Visiting Mexico During The Holiday Season!

Visiting Mexico during the holidays is a great time to learn about Mexican culture but if looking for a Christmas tree filled wonderland in the tropical sun, visitors will be surprised to know that Christmas is not as celebrated in Mexico as it is in the States. In Mexico, the holiday season is seen as a religious event and not a commercial one. While most Americans look forward to Christmas Day, Mexicans enjoy participating in the pre-Christmas Day Los Posadas event and the post-Christmas Day, Three Kings’ Day.

When you plan for your Mexico travel the primary protection you should purchase if driving in Mexico is Mexican Auto Insurance. Review Mexican Insurance Online for specialists who know how to save you frustration, time and money and still provide reliable coverage. For information on Mexican car insurance or to buy your policy at the best rates available.

As for finding Christmas trees during your visit, tourists can expect to see more poinsettias than decorated trees. These native Mexican flowering plants can be found everywhere; adding color to the season along with nativity scenes. Just as popular in Mexican households as Christmas trees are in American ones, Mexicans assemble nativity scenes as a way of remembering the journey Mary and Joseph took and the journey’s purpose. Since over 90% of Mexicans are Catholics, this very religious group of people strives to make the holiday season a long, religion-filled one.

If visiting a Mexican familys home during your visit, you most likely won’t find any stockings hanging on mantles. Instead of receiving small treats in stockings, most Mexican families have piñatas that are filled with candy and small toys. There is usually one per family and children look forward to gathering candies.

Travelers lucky enough to tour homes of the wealthy may be surprised to find a decorated, live Christmas tree. Some Mexican people have embraced this tradition and have their Christmas trees shipped from the U.S.; while Mexican people who desire a Christmas tree but are unable to afford one will sometimes decorate their outdoor trees and bushes.

Holiday shopping is also less commercialized in Mexico. Instead of department stores, many outdoor markets sell religious-based, Christmas crafts and decorations. Emphasis here is less on what people receive and more on what you give, as in the Biblical story of the Three Kings. Visiting Mexico during the Holiday Season!

The Best Types Of Wedding Favors For Themed Weddings

If you have put a lot of thought into your wedding, you probably want to give your guests something just as unique to remember the big day by, and to thank them for coming. That is why many couples choose to give unique party favors that are witty, funny and reflect what your wedding day is all about.

There are many different kinds of wedding favors that can do this, the important thing is to figure out which ones are right for your ceremony.

Funny, Meaningful or Just Unique. The first thing to do is to figure out which type of wedding party favor to look for. You can find funny favors, practical favors and seasonal favors along with many more. So, try and imagine what your ceremony mood will be. Decide whether you want guests to laugh and think about funny things when they open their favor bags. If so buy funny wedding favors that can turn a phrase faster than a stand up comic. Maybe you want them to think more about the atmosphere of your wedding. If so, seasonal and decorative wedding favors are a great choice. You probably get the idea by now, so let\’s go to the next step.

Where to Buy. Not all wedding outlets have a big selection of wedding favors that are really unique, humorous or themed. Most online wedding stores tend to have more of a selection. They also tend to categorize these favors so you can find specific ones more easily. That\’s simply because brick and mortar stores have to stock their favors.

If you go to a wedding store online, try to find sub categories under party favors that match your choices. Some stores will have seasonal favors, and themed favors that include everything from wine wedding favors, to Las Vegas favors and many others more. It will simply make your shopping faster and more successful.

Choosing the Right Ones to Buy. When you find a few favors, try to imagine how guests will react and who might especially like them. Also, think about whether or not they represent something about your wedding like where it took place (beach, vineyard, ballroom, etc.)

Also, consider how the favors look together. Maybe you don\’t want them all to be funny or unique, so you should include a few practical favors, soap favors and more in one bag.

Presenting Favors. The last thing to consider is the presentation. Sometimes the best part about the favor is the container it comes in. Buy unique favor bags and containers for edible mints, candies, or small jewelry to make them a unique gift. You can also personalize many of these containers with their own tags, that will also add personality and originality.

Its always best to provide an assortment of wedding favors too. Don\’t be shy about buying decorations that are also favors. These are traditional and unique to your wedding, plus they can save money.

Unique, Inexpensive Centerpieces To Crown That Special Day

Candles also create a very attractive yet inexpensive centerpiece. The couple may choose to purchase many of the same candle or candles of varying shapes, sizes and colors to arrange on the tables. Candles of the same size, shape and color can be arranged in a uniform pattern to create a beautiful centerpiece. Candles that vary in size, shape and color can be placed at random on the table to create an eclectic appeal.

A wedding with a light-hearted theme hosted by a fun loving couple might be a suitable opportunity to utilize candy to create festive centerpieces. Clear glass bowls can be filled with colorful candies such as jelly beans or M & Ms to create a lovely and very inexpensive centerpiece that reflects the personalities of the bride and groom. The candy and bowls can probably be purchased for a fraction of the price of floral centerpieces and create a lovely centerpiece that is easily assembled and can be enjoyed by all of the guests.

The bride and groom can also opt for silk floral arrangements if they are intent on having flowers as their centerpiece. Many hobby stores sell a wide variety of attractive artificial flowers that can be arranged by the bride and groom to create attractive centerpieces for the tables. Using fake flowers gives the couple more of an opportunity to express their creativity.

An eclectic assortment of Champaign flutes also makes a truly unique centerpiece. You can purchase an assortment of flutes of various shapes and sizes from a thrift store and clean them up to use them as centerpieces. The flutes can be arranged in an attractive but random pattern to create a unique centerpiece for any occasion.

Another inexpensive option for a couple wishing to utilize flowers for their centerpieces is to use potted plants. You can find a multitude of inexpensive potted plants at home improvement stores, greenhouses, and even grocery stores. The couple can choose plants that match the other decorations for the wedding or that will stand out amongst the other decorations. These plants could be repotted into festive pots to create attractive centerpieces for a relatively low cost.

Balloons can be another option for a couple looking to have fun yet inexpensive centerpieces. Balloons are relatively inexpensive and can be easily found in a wide variety of colors and patterns. The couple could choose solid or print patterns that match the colors of the table linens. An extra tip for these centerpieces is to weigh down the balloons with a piece of candy. This will encourage each guest at the table to take home a balloon as a souvenir. With a typical centerpiece only one guest has the opportunity to take home the centerpiece but using balloons makes it possible for each guest to take home a part of the centerpiece.

Choosing The Best Gift Boxes

When it comes to gifts, it is better to give than receive. As a child, I remember my grandmother saying that, and, as a child, the idea was lost on me as I ripped open my presents with the glee of a child. Today, I am an adult, and I still open presents with the glee of a child. However, I now have a great appreciation for what my grandmother once said. Giving gifts is much better than receiving them – unless it is my anniversary, but that is a whole other story.

Choosing gift boxes is one way I choose to give. I remember back in the 90s when these wonderful presents started getting popular. Each one was a wondrous collage of tidbits and morsels of surprised eliciting awes from the person lucky enough to be receiving such a present.

Gift boxes are a great idea if you think about it! These nifty ideas have a bunch of little things instead of one large thing. One of my favorite types is my Mexican themed one. A large bottle of homemade Tejano sauce was proudly in the middle with smaller goodies such as Mexican candies. Straw was the filler which gave the present an awesome western look and feel. There were even tortilla chips filling the authentic Mexican basket. Absolutely stunning, and I loved the expressions when these were received.

The best one I received was the fresh pecan one. Let me tell you… this was amazing! Let me explain.

First, I had a small container of chocolate covered pecans that was simply awesome, then the honey coated pecans were closely like pralines. I loved them, and so did everyone else in my house. But the kicker was a huge container of fresh Texan pecans still in their shell. Talk about delicious. Of course, I also loved the containers. If you have never had fresh Texan pecans, you seriously have no idea what it is you are missing! Try some today. You will not ever look at other pecans the same again.

What is the different between a gift box and a gift basket? This is a question I get a lot, but the answer is simple: one is in a box and one is in a basket! But the reason for this is a little more complicated…

A box is going to be better for shipping and wrapping. The box format of this means you get to have the items laying flat, and this makes it a whole lot easier to ship, say, glasses and margarita mix without worrying the contents will end up on the postal office floor making a mess. Of course, a basket is great for wrapping with cellophane and giving on the spot. The packaging is not as stable, but if it is an immediate present, you will not need the added stability.

When you are choosing the best gift boxes for your gift-giving purposes, you will find all sorts of edibles and inedibles to keep you going. Choose something they will enjoy by choosing something you would enjoy. And remember, it is better to give than it is to receive. Thanks, Grandma!

The Allure of Gourmet Chocolate

Nothing beats the taste of a truly divine chocolate that is made with the finest and purest ingredients. For the chocolate connoisseur, only gourmet chocolate will do; chocolate that is surely no 50-cent treat but a luscious indulgence that is meant to be savored and cherished like good wine and good food. In recent years, more and more chocolatiers are putting up chocolate shops, creating hand-made chocolate and confections that contain higher cacao levels than those mass-produced chocolates you can buy at the grocery store. These master chocolate makers use natural flavors and some unusual ingredients like chili peppers and grated lime to make your chocolate experience even more interesting. But because they make custom and gourmet chocolates, you can also expect gourmet prices, as much as seventy dollars for a pound of chocolate! But don’t worry. There are also gourmet chocolates sold for less than ten dollars-fairly affordable and a good investment for the true chocolate lover. Below are some of the best gourmet chocolates in town.

Ganache Chocolates

Former corporate pastry chef of the Ritz Carlton, Norman Love, together with partner Judy Limekiller founded Ganache, a chocolate store that serves visually stunning and delicious chocolate. Their chocolate molds are air brushed or hand-painted with a candy-coating and filled with imported chocolate from France, Belgium, and Switzerland. They also add various fresh ingredients to their chocolates such as hazelnuts, bananas, raspberries, and even ginger.

La Maison du Chocolat

When it comes to luxuriousness, nothing can beat La Maison du Chocolat. La Maison chocolates come in an exquisite presentation of colored leather boxes that is elegant enough to hold jewelry. They offer decadent delights such as mendicants (chocolate lavishly sprinkled with nuts, dried fruits, or orange peel), marrons glaces, and dark and milk chocolate truffles. Their ganache fillings are not made of milk fat but of pure cocoa butter.

Dagoba Organic Chocolate

Organic chocolate used to be boring and tasteless and left chocoholics gravely disappointed, but thanks to inventive chocolatiers such as former chef Frederick Schilling, owner of Dagoba Organic Chocolate, organic chocolate will never be the same again. This time, you can drown in decadence with the exciting varieties and flavors Dagoba has to offer such as chocolate roseberry (raspberry and rosehips), hazelnut, chocolate mint and rosemary, chai (milk chocolate with anise, cardamom, black pepper, clover, and cinnamon) lime and macadamia nut, and the conventional milk and dark chocolate. Schilling buys only handpicked, organic cacao beans from co-ops in Central America and the Dominican Republic, and pays the farmers full price getting Dagoba a Fair Trade certification.

Garrison Confections

Former pastry chef of the upscale La Cote Basque in New York made a line of colorful and elaborately designed chocolates to serve the restaurant’s patrons after their meals and continued on to create Garrison confections, his very own chocolate company.
Feliz Navidad : Celebrate Christmas in the Mexican Way

Celebrating Christmas in Rocky Point, Mexico can be a unique and unforgettable experience. In place of a white Christmas, you may find a very colorful set of festivities and traditions. The celebrations start 0 days before Christmas, on Dec. 16, with the traditional Posadas . Nine consecutive days of candlelight processions in which families get together to reenact the Holy Family’s quest for lodging in Bethlehem . The organizers often choose a little girl to be the Virgin Mary (Virgin Maria) sometimes perched on a live donkey (burro) followed by a little boy representing Saint Joseph (San Jose) and they are usually followed by other children dressed as angels and a host of (Pastores and Pastoras) shepards and shepardesses. The little procession will go to a determined house in the neighborhood and everyone outside the door sings the traditional “ Inn ” music (Posada) holding candles. Many times, little papers with the lyrics of the whole song are given together with the candles so that everyone knows what comes next and can join in singing. The people inside the house will respond. It goes something like this: “In the name of heaven I ask you for Inn , for just one night, since my beloved wife cannot walk anymore”.
Then the ones inside respond:“This is no Inn, I can’t open the door, it could be a thief”.

This singing dialog will go on with the ones outside explaining that they are Mary and Joseph and that she will be the Holy Mother until the Inn keeper (people inside) will say: “Come in Saint Pilgrims, receive my humble home, it is not much but I give it to you with my heart”.

Then the door of the house will open and everyone will go inside singing together and the party starts. There will be traditional food including atole and tamales and the holiday classic warm fruit punch made with seasonal fruits, raisins, cinnamon and sugar (to which adults might add rum or other alcoholic beverage). Music Christmas carols and colorful holiday motifs are a must, but most important is getting together for good holiday cheer. Some families like to give sparklers to the kids, or gather around a fire. Then, at the end of the party, children will break a Piñata which also has a traditional meaning: the 7 coned star piñata represents the 7 capital sins and in breaking all sins the children receive the reward of candy and fruit.

Many of these traditions have been incorporated from the Pre-Hispanic culture that the Spaniards found and then change using them as a way to teach Christianity to the natives. Some think the Posadas started with the ancient Aztec winter celebration for “Huitzilopochtli”, God of the Sun. The dates for this holiday coincide with the nine days when the Aztecs celebrated the birth of Huitzilopochtli. It is believed that Augustine Monks trying to teach Christianity maintained the celebrations, changing the characteristics (and characters), and giving it a Christian meaning, thus incorporating it into the Christmas holiday. Posadas are celebrated not only in Mexico, but in most of Latin America . It is one beautiful and lasting tradition that helps families and neighbors stay together and enjoy the true meaning of Christmas.

You can join these lively posadas or organize your own, any day between Dec. 16 th and 24 th is an appropriate time for gathering friends and family, and most importantly to sing, celebrate and rejoice. FELIZ NAVIDAD!

Yeast Infection Treatments

Yeast Infection Treatments

Yeast is everywhere on our bodies, though particularly in our mouths, abdomen, arm pits, nail beds and parts of our body with skin folds. Whilst yeast in itself isn t a problem, in fact it is a natural and normal substance, if it reaches more than the normal levels, a yeast infection arises.

So, what can cause a natural amount of yeast to develop into a yeast infection Well, there a number of common factors that can contribute…

Contraceptive use

Steroids

Certain medications and antibiotics

Over consumption of sugar

Pregnancy Cigarette smoke

Diabetes

Food allergies

HIV

A yeast infection, or candidiasis to give it its scientific name, is a problem that many people experience. A relatively harmless looking red rash is the first sign that you have one, but this will likely soon be accompanied by itching and pain.

Though they can initially be little more than unsightly and unpleasant, the symptoms can be become more serious unless the yeast infection is dealt with. Left untreated, one can also, particularly if the affected area is the abdomen, lead to…

Problems with memory and concentration

Congestion of the sinuses

Fatigue

Headaches

Mood swings

The first step in treating a yeast infection is usually to obtain an over the counter medication, that is applied directly to the skin surface. These medications come with full instructions, and are simple enough to use. Sticking strictly to the directions that come with them is essential to seeing success with them, so be sure to apply the right amount and not to miss out applying them on some days consistency is key.

If you do suffer from Candida overgrowth, and find that standard over the counter remedies are not very effective, there are other alternative remedies for treatment yeast infection available.

You can find out about these natural, alternative remedies by undertaking some online research as there are many great resources to be found on the internet. You can also ask for guidance from an employee at your local health store. They should be able to show you a range of products that are known to help cure yeast infections.

If you find that over the counter medications and natural remedies fail to address the problem, then seek medical advice. Yeast infections can be a serious problem, so don t hold back from seeking advice from your doctor on the basis that you think it is too minor an issue with which to bother them. They will have dealt with many patients with yeast infections in the past and, as such, will have the knowledge to help you rid yourself of your yeast infection quickly.

As a final point, though curing the symptoms of your yeast infection is your main concern right now, don t neglect to consider the reasons for it arising in the first place. If you focus only on finding a cure, then it is likely that the infection will continue to come back again and again.

Do you Have a “dinner Party” Portfolio?

When they’re starting out, investors are inundated with opportunity. On websites. At trade shows. In the mail. It’s everywhere. Cyprus, Croatia, Spain, Florida, Estonia, Las Vegas, Bulgaria, Thailand, Germany, Goa, France, Hungary, UK and so many more. It’s a candy store for the budding property investor with so many outstanding opportunities to choose from.

The experienced professional investor knows that most of the countries are simply distractions or ways to easily line the pockets of salespeople… and to lose money.

Let me introduce one of my investors – “Tina”. She has an awesome “dinner party” portfolio, meaning that around the dinner table she can hold her own with the best of them.

She owns a great place in France on a 17 year leaseback, a wonderful Spanish apartment only 10 mins from the beach, a main street apartment in Auckland, New Zealand, an off plan Dubai apartment, a Bulgarian ski chateau, a Northern Cyprus apartment to die for with views of the Mediterranean from the bedroom, an apartment in central Berlin (that’s on the infamous east side only minutes from Alexanderplautz). She also has 3 apartments and her own home in the UK.

After I met with her, it was obvious that her investment strategy consisted of buying whatever sounded good. In fact, she was blissfully unaware of the fact that her portfolio was a ticking time bomb.

Tina was in:

    * 8 different property markets, with

    * 7 different languages, and

    * 8 different property laws, and

    * 10 different letting agents, and

    * 8 different market cycles.

If that wasn’t enough she needs to understand the mortgage products of 8 different countries so she can access her equity as well as 8 different taxation laws. Are you starting to get the picture?

I have always loved Warren Buffet’s investing ethos, especially his opinion on diversification:

Diversification is protection against ignorance… It makes very little sense if you know what you are doing.

You see I have always been a fundamentals investor. One of the things about fundamentals is that once you understand a market and begin making money in it you simply keep doing it, you DO NOT think well I made some money, so what’s the next challenge? You persist, you build systems to make it easier for you to make money, you build better relationships and as a result you make more money, easier.

That’s the essence of my ‘Set and Forget’ philosophy

The only time you even consider going into a different market is once you have built a solid foundation in the first. That’s what being a fundamentals investor means.

You see Tina had bought one property everywhere without any fundamentals, she never cared about questions like:

    * when my French property goes up in value over the 17 years how to I take the equity out?

    * When I try and sell my Bulgarian property once they join the EU who will buy it?

    * How much capital gains will I pay?

    * How many inner city Auckland flats are coming online at the same time as my flat?

    * Who will either buy or rent my Dubai flat once it’s ready in 12 months?

It’s questions like these Tina had no idea how to answer. She had simply been attracted to the initial deal. This is one of the best ways to be assured of losing money.

Property investment is a small part buying and a big part holding. Don’t think that just because you got a good deal on the purchase that it is a good deal. You need to consider the holding, the re-mortgaging, and the disposing.

Only then can you truly say it’s a good deal.
